Which phones hold their value best in India in 2026? Real resale rankings for iPhone, Samsung and OnePlus, plus proven tips to sell your phone for more.
Every phone loses value from the day you unbox it — but not at the same speed. In India, some phones shed 60% of their price within a year, while others fetch more than half their original cost even after two years of use. If you plan to upgrade every couple of years, resale value quietly becomes one of the most important specs on the sheet — more important than an extra camera lens you will rarely use.
At SAARBazaar we buy, refurbish and sell thousands of pre-owned phones, so we see real resale prices every single day — not estimates, actual transactions. Here is what the Indian resale market looks like in 2026, which brands and models hold value best, and how to squeeze the maximum price out of your current phone when you sell.
New smartphone prices in India have climbed sharply — entry-level phones got over 30% more expensive in early 2026 alone. At the same time, the refurbished and pre-owned market is booming: second-hand devices now account for roughly 26% of all smartphone sales in India, and the market is expected to cross US$10 billion this year.
What does that mean for you? Demand for good used phones is at an all-time high, which means sellers with the right phone in the right condition are getting better prices than ever. Choosing a phone with strong resale value effectively lowers your real cost of ownership by thousands of rupees.
iPhones consistently retain 55–70% of their value after one year and 40–55% after two. A three-year-old iPhone 12 still sells briskly in India — it remains one of the most searched phones in the country. Why? Long software support with 5–6 years of iOS updates, consistent build quality, and a massive second-hand buyer base. If resale value is your top priority, an iPhone is the safest bet, full stop.
Samsung flagships hold roughly 45–55% after a year, helped by Samsung’s 7-year update promise on recent flagships. The mid-range A series holds value well for Android — around 40–50% after a year — because these are the phones first-time smartphone upgraders in tier-2 and tier-3 cities actively hunt for in the used market.
OnePlus phones enjoy a loyal enthusiast following, and recent flagships retain roughly 40–48% after a year. Their strong specs-to-price ratio when new means they stay desirable used — a two-year-old OnePlus flagship still feels fast.
Pixels depreciate faster initially because steep launch discounts hurt resale, but their 7-year update window is starting to stabilise second-hand prices. Expect 35–45% retention after one year.
Aggressive launch pricing and frequent model refreshes mean most phones from these brands retain only 25–35% after a year. They are excellent value new or refurbished, but do not expect a big cheque when you sell. The exceptions: special editions and true top-end models hold up somewhat better.
Here is the smart-money move most people miss: the same logic that makes an iPhone the best phone to sell also makes a certified refurbished iPhone the best phone to buy. High-retention phones are high-retention because they last — hardware that survives years of use, software that stays updated. When you buy one refurbished, you skip the steepest part of the depreciation curve and keep the longevity.
Every phone at SAARBazaar goes through a 12-point quality check covering battery, display, cameras, speakers, connectivity and body condition — and everything we sell is backed by a 1-year warranty, double what most refurbished sellers in India offer. So you can buy a two-year-old flagship with confidence, use it for two years, and still sell it for a meaningful amount. That is the lowest real cost of ownership in the market today.
If you want maximum resale value in India in 2026: buy Apple first, Samsung flagship second, OnePlus third. Protect the phone, preserve the box, watch the battery, and time your sale before the next launch.
Whether you are selling your current phone or hunting for a high-value refurbished flagship, SAARBazaar makes both sides easy. Browse certified refurbished iPhones, Samsung Galaxy flagships and more in our mobiles collection — every device with a 12-point QC and 1-year warranty — or sell us your old phone and put its resale value to work.
